Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
